Suzanne Mears

"Belize"

fuse/slump glass with dichroic

Suzanne Mears is an artist who works in many mediums including oils, ceramics, collage, watercolor and glass.  She finds the stimulation of working in many mediums rewarding and challenging.  Mears Glass are a Fuse/Slump process.  None are blown glass.  The focus is large bowls and fountains.  All are fired in a kiln multiple times.  The Fuse process can take as long as thirty hours.  Mears work is described as contemporary bold, colorful, sometimes quite whimsical and always a joy to look at.  She has shown in many major galleries through out the United States and Hong Kong and is collected worldwide.

"Because I have worked with clay and kilns, glass was a natural.  The difficult element of knowing what to do with heat was worked out years ago."

Mears has a BA from the University of Iowa, attended the University of Wisconsin and has extensive graduate work from the University of Iowa in both Art Education and Fine Arts.  She lives and works in Oklahoma City, OK.
